Miles of beautiful beaches on this rare island property

I Passed!

May 11th, 2009 by Mark

A little pat on my back today!  I passed my LEED AP Exam!  LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, and is part of the USGBC (United States Green Building Council).  LEED is the main means – in the United States – of Certifying buildings as “Green” and serves as a general benchmark for strategies that can be implemented to make our built environment more sustainable.  Currently (nn a few months LEED will introduce a new version of it’s current rating system) there are Six Categories and a possible 69 achievable Points.

This is important for Amble, because we are striving for the highest standards in Green Building, and (if we can get it in Panama) the highest LEED Rating possible.  By passing my LEED AP Exam I’m hoping that I can better contribute to the company’s understanding of where and how we can incorporate Sustainable Building Techniques prior to making and finalizing decisions.  This way the idea of Green and Sustainability is ingrained into our process from the first stroke of the pen, rather than an afterthought.
